The\u00a0fast and simple exchange of information<\/strong>\u00a0and data is an important building block with regard to the ever advancing digitization. However, there is often no clear link between product and documentation, or manufacturer data is named and structured differently. This results in a\u00a0high search effort<\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0manual effort<\/strong>, e.g., during maintenance or installation work\u2014and therefore\u00a0increased costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n As part of the\u00a0Digital Data Chain (DDC) consortium<\/strong>, Pepperl+Fuchs is working together with companies from the process automation sector to develop standards and platforms that enable both the\u00a0automatic identification of objects<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0efficient exchange of information<\/strong>.<\/p>\n For this purpose, the consortium relies on standards such as:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As a founding member, Pepperl+Fuchs already developed a standard for the\u00a0automatic identification of objects<\/strong>\u00a0together with partners and companies from the process automation industry\u2014the\u00a0DIN SPEC 91406<\/strong>. This DIN specification is currently being further developed into\u00a0IEC 61406<\/strong>\u00a0in an international project and is thus gaining international significance.<\/p>\n The\u00a0instance level identifier\u00a0<\/strong>standardized in DIN SPEC 91406, e.g., a unique identifier for\u00a0each individual serial number<\/strong>, makes it possible to link manufacturer information, such as maintenance and servicing plans, to the product instances. In this way, by using suitable systems, the individual components in a plant can be identified quickly and easily using mobile devices. The required information can be accessed\u00a0at any time and from any location<\/strong>\u2014at all process levels and throughout the entire life cycle of the product. This not only saves companies time and money, but also makes an important contribution to\u00a0environmental protection<\/strong>. Digital data representation saves enormous amounts of paper and therefore avoids their costly production, processing and storage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n VDI Guideline 2770\u00a0“Digital Manufacturer Information”<\/strong>\u00a0is a process automation guideline that illustrates how\u00a0descriptive and instructional manufacturer documentation<\/strong>\u00a0can be exchanged in a digital and standardized manner. In order to achieve as much cross-company neutrality as possible across the entire value chain, the guideline specifies the\u00a0properties, structure, scope, content,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0data format<\/strong>\u00a0of the documentation. In this way, a type of “life cycle file” is created for each product with all the information from manufacturing to commissioning. Employees can then, e.g., access and share the data and information via\u00a0cloud-based information exchange platforms<\/strong>.
