The filled bottles pass through bottle aisles on their way to the packaging station. At the final position, their presence in each aisle is\u00a0<strong>monitored separately<\/strong>. Only when each bottle is in the correct position will the infeed be\u00a0<strong>activated via a robot arm<\/strong>. Otherwise, there is a risk of incomplete packs or even harm. In the machines, several aisles are usually arranged next to each other, so a correspondingly large number of<strong>\u00a0sensors work in parallel\u00a0<\/strong>in a confined space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\">\n<h2>The Goal<\/h2>\n<div class=\"container_detailtext\">\n<div class=\"detailtext\">\n<p>The sensors must reliably and accurately detect the presence of the bottles at the end positions, at high machine speeds and with constant vibration. The bottles can be made of\u00a0<strong>different materials<\/strong>\u00a0(glass, plastic, ceramic); their colors vary; they can be transparent or have reflective surfaces. The function of the sensors must not be impaired by such properties. At the same time, the sensors must\u00a0<strong>fit into a small space<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>must not interfere with each other\u2019s detection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\">\n<h2>The Solution<\/h2>\n<div class=\"container_detailtext\">\n<div class=\"detailimgRight\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.pepperl-fuchs.com\/singapore\/images_inet_lowres_ZHI\/EC_CM_2021108_Ultrasonic_Sensor_UC18GS_Packaging_200px.jpg\" alt=\"UC18GS Ultrasonic Sensor Series\" \/><br \/>\n<span class=\"detailimgDescription\">UC18GS Ultrasonic Sensor Series<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"detailtext\">\n<p>UC18GS series ultrasonic sensors reliably detect the presence of bottles in the end positions. Instead of taking a point-by-point measurement, their sound beam hits the surface of the container over a wide area. This ensures detection even with\u00a0<strong>varying contours<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>position deviations\u00a0<\/strong>and makes the color and texture of the container surfaces irrelevant. The output configuration as well as the sound beam radius can be set with push buttons on the device. The<strong>\u00a0IO-Link interface\u00a0<\/strong>allows comprehensive parameterization via the controller without physical access to the sensor. This not only\u00a0<strong>makes commissioning particularly easy<\/strong>, but also enables\u00a0<strong>fast product changeover\u00a0<\/strong>without time-consuming re-parameterization. With its compact dimensions, a minimum blind zone and a range of one meter, the sensor affords tremendous freedom when mounting it on the machine.
