To ensure that processes can run without interruption, replenishment must correspond to consumption and be triggered in a timely manner.\u00a0<strong>Continuous monitoring<\/strong>\u00a0of the container level provides the consumption data and limit values for this purpose. The historical information is available for\u00a0<strong>analysis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>long-term planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\">\n<h2>The Goal<\/h2>\n<div class=\"container_detailtext\">\n<div class=\"detailtext\">\n<p>The sensor should be able to detect different\u00a0<strong>solid and liquid media<\/strong>, regardless of their physical or optical properties, even with irregular surfaces. It must detect<strong>\u00a0transparent and colored liquids<\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<strong>solid granules<\/strong>. The measurement must not be affected by the\u00a0<strong>harsh conditions<\/strong>\u00a0of an industrial environment or by the interior of the container. The sensor itself must be small to be well-suited for confined spaces. To avoid contact with the media, it should ideally be possible to install the sensor outside the tank and without major modification efforts. This also requires that\u00a0<strong>small openings<\/strong>\u00a0in the tank lid are sufficient for level measurement. Depending on the medium and ambient conditions of the application, a suitable protection class is also required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\">\n<h2>The Solution<\/h2>\n<div class=\"container_detailtext\">\n<div class=\"detailimgRight\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.pepperl-fuchs.com\/singapore\/images_inet_lowres_ZHI\/EC_CM_2020108_Ultrasonic_Sensor_UC18GS_Sound_Beam_200px.jpg\" alt=\"UC18GS Ultrasonic Sensor Series\" \/><br \/>\n<span class=\"detailimgDescription\">UC18GS Ultrasonic Sensor Series<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"detailtext\">\n<p>UC18GS series ultrasonic sensors reliably detect the\u00a0<strong>tank level of liquids and granules<\/strong>, regardless of their color and other optical properties. A small opening in the tank cap is sufficient for installation. The diameter of the\u00a0<strong>cone-shaped sound beam<\/strong>\u00a0can be adjusted for the target area. It strikes the surfaces of the medium over a wide area. In the case of irregular or moving surfaces, the sensor determines an average value and thus indicates the\u00a0<strong>actual level<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; instead of a potentially distorted punctual value.<\/p>\n<p>Disturbance variables such as support struts or other objects reaching into the measuring field are suppressed by\u00a0<strong>software (PACTware)<\/strong>. The level is precisely detected even in the suppressed area. The sound beam radius can be easily adjusted with push buttons on the instrument itself or via software. The range is not affected by this, the level is always reliably detected in the measuring range.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical Features:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Measuring range up to 1000 mm<\/li>\n<li>Very small dead bands of 30 mm resp. 70 mm<\/li>\n<li>Interfaces: IO-Link 1.1, infrared interface IrDA<\/li>\n<li>Output types: 2x push-pull switching output or 1x push-pull switching output and 1x analog output (current\/voltage)<\/li>\n<li>Ambient temperature: \u201325 to +70 \u00b0C<\/li>\n<li>Degree of protection: IP67<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"imgCenter\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.pepperl-fuchs.com\/singapore\/images_inet_lowres_ZHI\/EC_NP_2020_Ultrasonic_Sensor_UC18GS_Sound_Beam_Adjustment_1024px_rdax_717x507_100.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<span class=\"special\">The sound beam of the UC18GS series ultrasonic sensors is individually configurable.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"container_wrapper\">\n<h2>The Benefits<\/h2>\n<div class=\"container_detailtext\">\n<div class=\"detailtext\">\n<p>The sensor has an\u00a0<strong>IO-Link interface<\/strong>\u00a0and can be parameterized via the controller. Physical access to the sensor is not necessary. Push buttons are available for setting the\u00a0<strong>output configuration<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>sound beam width<\/strong>\u00a0directly on the device. The compact device offers a wide range of functions with the smallest dimensions, including interference target suppression, configurable sound beam, automatic synchronization, minimum dead band, IO-Link and infrared interface as well as push buttons for basic settings. Due to its small dimensions, the sensor is suitable for installation in\u00a0<strong>confined spaces<\/strong>; no adjustments to the container are necessary.
